Granada

 

Granada, 1990 CWHBA Main Mare Book Hanoverian mare.

 

Granada is a well-bred, pretty mare with a kind, affectionate, people-loving temperament. A bit on the hot side, this mare has flashy movement and 3 good gaits. Granada was sired by Spruce Meadows' stallion, Goodwill, whose damline was very exceptional. The thoroughbred stallion, Der Lowe, is noted as one of the most influential stallions of the mid 1900's, standing at Celle State, and was the leading sire for producing a very high number of registered competition horses with the Hanoverian Verband, specifically noted for producing dressage and eventing horses. His son, Lugano I, was a very successful show jumper and typifies the type of horse this whole line produced. Granada's dam, SPS Doreen, was purchased from the Celle State Stud. She was sired by the premium mare-producing stallion, Diplomat, and through him is related to the sensational show jumping champion stallion, Espri. Abhang I had a reputation for producing horses with great character and mindset, trainability, and work ethic. He produces a considerable number of State Premium mares and athletic sport horses. Granada's damline is exceptional. She descends from 100% states premium mares who were exceptional producers of high calibre sport horses, stallion sons or premium mares themselves. Granada's show jumping career was cut short before it really got started by a very severe pasture injury. We obtained Granada in 2003 and in 2007, she produced a very gorgeous premium filly, Ryanna, sired by the Elite Stallion, Regazzoni. She was bred again in 2008; however, she unfortunately lost her foal in 2009.
