We were very fortunate to be able to obtain Granada in 2003 and add her to our broodmare herd. Granada is a very well-bred, pretty Hanoverian mare with a kind, affectionate, people-loving temperament. A bit on the hot side, this mare has flashy movement and 3 good gaits.  At her mare inspection at Spruce Meadows in 1993, she scored high enough to rank third in all of Canada for type, movement and conformation.

The mares in Granada's damline are second to none. She descends from 100% State Premium mares all of whom were exceptional producers of high calibre sport horses, stallion sons, or State Premium mares. Granada's dam, Staatsprämie Doreen, was a highly awarded mare earning both her Staatsprämie Title and a medal. In 1979, she was purchased from the Celle State Stud and imported to Canada where she continued to produce exceptional foals. SPS Doreen was sired by the premium mare-producing stallion, Diplomat. Doreen produced two approved stallion sons, Greystoke (by Gotthard) and Whispering Hope, both now deceased, plus 2 additional Verband named stallion candidates. As well, Doreen's daughters were of exceptional calibre, successful in both jumping and dressage, including her champion CDI 3* eventing daughter, De Michelle (sired by Dezember). Granada showed great promise in show jumping; however, suffered a nearly fatal injury after jumping out of her enclosure. Abhang I who had a reputation for producing horses with great character, mind, trainability, and work ethic and produced a considerable number of State Premium mares and athletic sport horses. Granada was sired by Goodwill, a Hunter stallion imported from Germany by Spruce Meadows.  His dam, Staatsprämie Luna, was sired by Lugano I, who was a very successful show jumper and sire of same. His sire was the thoroughbred stallion, Der Lowe xx, noted as one of the most influential stallions of the mid 1900's. He stood at the Celle State Stud and was the leading sire for producing dressage and eventing horses.

Foals:

In 2007, Granada produced a gorgeous premium filly, Ryanna, sired by the imported Hanoverian Elite Stallion, Regazzoni. Ryanna was inspected and approved as a Premium Mare in the Main Mare Book of the German Oldenburg Verband. Ryanna is a serious FEI prospect, showing very well in competition.  In 2008, Granada was bred again but lost her foal.

Ryanna (by ES Regazzoni).  Sold as a weanling.

Congratulations to Fox Hollow Equestrian.
