Our Mares

A breeding program is only as successful as the quality of the mares involved and we are always searching for more high quality mares for breeding. We carefully select our fine mares for their quality of movement, correct conformation, athleticism, show performance results, as well as the all very important temperament traits of willingness, kindness, gentleness, and their ability to produce offspring who are an improvement to the breed. If she suffered an injury which precluded showing, she must demonstrate herself exceptional in all other qualities.

Nikki is a very well-bred imported Dutch mare, approved KWPN and Oldenburg. Her promising show jumping career was cut short due to injury. Her sire, Belisar, is one of the top Dutch dressage producers and in recent years is one of the most highly ranked stallions in Holland, achieving a dressage breeding index of 146. Through the exceptional mares in her lineage, she carries the blood of Ramiro Z and Le Mexico. Both stallions produced International show jumping champions as well as elite dressage horses. Mention must be made of Nikki's exceptional granddam, Dauphine, who directly descends from the great KWPN-approved Crown Thoroughbred stallion, Uppercut, who produced many exceptional international show jumping champions. Nikki's interesting pedigree and abilities offer a lot of breeding choices.

For 2010, Nikki will be booked to Sir Gregory (Sir Donnerhall-Don Gregory-Picasso).

Lexus is a correct, solid-boned mare with good conformation and excellent feet with a very solid Dressage pedigree. She is approved with both the Canadian Sport Horse and also the Canadian Warmblood associations. At her CHWBA inspection, she scored 8's on her gaits, swing and elasticity. She has a sweet, kind, gentle temperament and she is an excellent mother, and an easy broodmare with good fertility. Lexus has alternated between being a broodmare or in dressage training and showing and is confirmed at Prix St. George obtaining very good scores. Her pedigree contains the sensational foundational stallion, Pion, who sired a large number of approved sons and daughters who were successful in dressage and show jumping, including the amazing stallion, Argus, who was the only stallion to be simultaneously successful in Grand Prix Show Jumping and Grand Prix Dressage competition. Lexus produces sweet-natured, forward thinking and moving foals, who are elegant, very athletic with exceptional shoulder freedom and swing through the back, and an improvement over herself. Her foals are especially talented for dressage.

Breeding plans for 2010 are to Sagnol (Sandro Hit-Landadel-Fantast).

In 2010, Dawn will be started under saddle and presented before the Canadian Warmblood Horse Breeders Association for breeding approval. This beautiful young black mare is an exciting representative of Rubinstein I heritage. She is a friendly, people-loving, kind, sensible tempered youngster, inheriting Rubinstein's very pretty head. Her movement oozes powerful athleticism and she is remarkably pleasant, easy to handle and train. Her sire, Royal Senna, was winner of his 2000 Stallion Performance Test and is currently successfully competing at the Intermediare I level around North America despite a very busy breeding schedule. Her grandsire, Rubinstein I, rocked the Dressage world, winning no less than 40 Grand Prix wins in the international arena. Despite passing away at the early age of 14, his progeny have continued his winning tradition in the international show ring. Many years after his death, Rubinstein continues to be listed in top 5 in the breeding books through the success of his progeny. Through her sire, Dawn, is also related to the very impressive Old/NA approved stallion, Royal T, a highly successful dressage competitor around North America usually achieving scores in the mid 70's against tough competition. Royal Dawn's mother was imported from Argentina. She was a very substantial 17.1 hand mare, who elicited many compliments from the Canadian Warmblood judges for her quality of conformation, movement and temperament. Dawn currently stands 16.3 hands and will continue to grow into a very substantial mare, finishing taller than 17 hands.

Granada is a pretty mare with a kind, affectionate, people-loving temperament. A bit on the hot side, this mare has flashy movement and 3 good gaits. She has a superb pedigree. Granada was sired by Spruce Meadows' stallion, Goodwill, whose damline was very exceptional. Her dam, SPS Doreen, was purchased from the Celle State Stud. She was sired by the premium mare producing stallion, Diplomat and through him is related to the sensational show jumping champion stallion, Espri. Granada's show jumping career was cut short by a very severe pasture injury. We obtained Granada in 2003 and in 2007, she produced a very gorgeous premium filly, Ryanna, sired by the Elite Stallion, Regazzoni. Granada is now enjoying her well-deserved retirement at 20 years of age.
