Rosaleigha is a very pretty, first class young mare and winner of the "Best Dressage Foal" class at the Hanoverian Mare & Foal Show held at Spruce Meadows on September 5, 2013. Judges in attendance were Dr Axel Brockmann and Dr Ludwig Christmann from the Hanoverian Verband in Germany, and they commented on this filly's exceptional type, presence and conformation. As well, they commented on her very good walk and trot, and strongly recommended her for a career in Dressage and as a top Broodmare Candidate. Rosaleigha is a very elegant, typey, feminine filly with a generous temperament, friendly personality, correct legs, 3 exceptional gaits, and a lovely topline. We are retaining Rosie to be a broodmare prospect and look forward to showing her in Dressage classes in the future.
SIRE: Rascalino, was champion at his SPT in 2004 with an overall score of 148.29, and an amazing dressage score of 153.37. Rascalino is a exceptional stallion with 3 correct, impressive gaits, and has sired approved stallion sons and premium mares, consistently passing on quality gaits and conformation, spectacular temperament, rideability, and improves the dressage ability, continuing the heritage from his famous sire, Rotspon, and grandsire, Rubinstein I. Damsire Velten Third was an internationally successful dressage competitor and descends from the highly regarded Wendekreis and Ferdinand family providing the necessary jumping blood found in every quality dressage horse. His sire, Velten Sohn, competed in the 1976 Montreal Olympics and was one of the most successful dressage horses of his day. As well, through Rascalino's dam's damsire we find World Cup III, one of 5 full siblings sired by Woermann (4 approved stallions, 1 mare) which provides further assurance of good work ethic, rideability and exceptional dressage abilities.
DAM LINE: Rosaleigha's damline combines the best of Holland and Germany. Her dam, Wailea, was presented to the Hanoverian Verband in 2013 for broodmare inspection and was placed in the Main Mare Book. Wailea was sired by Hanoverian stallion, Westporte, who was imported from Germany after his 2-year-old Hanoverian licensing. At licensing, he was especially noted for his quality of conformation, movement, and jumping ability. Westporte was shown in Canada and the USA in both amateur and professional Hunter divisions, was USEF Zone 9 Hunter Horse of the Year in 2007, and champion at every major show on the West Coast. He has consistently produced hunter champions in both the USA and Canada, consistently ranking in the top 20 on the USEF Leading Hunter Breeding Sires. Grandsire, Wolkentanz I was one of Weltmeyer's many extraordinary sons. Among his many accomplishments, he was 1993 licensing Champion, 3-year-old Federal Championship of German Riding Horses, SPT Vice-Champion (140.53), and best stallion of his age group. Weltmeyer, was Licensing Champion in 1986, Champion SPT in 1987, Champion 3-year-old stallion at the Federal Championships of German Riding Horses, Best Stallion of his Age Group in Verden 1988, was 1989 DLG Champion, and 1998 Hanoverian Stallion of the Year. Weltmeyer sired spectacular champion offspring, 70 approved sons, and over 1000 State Premium mares. World Cup I became Hanoverian Stallion of the Year 1996 and by the time of his death had sired over 51 State Premium mares, 331 horses in active sport, 91 Elite Auction horses and 18 Premium Approved stallion sons. Fabriano was called "one of the best performance horse producers of Hanover's breeding program today." (The Hanoverian - December 1999). He was 1990 SPT Champion, placing 1st in jumping and 4th in dressage. Fabriano possessed rhythmical, flowing movements and his technique over the jump was much admired showing impressive ability and aptitude, with tucked knees and lovely bascule which he passes to his offspring.
Rosaleigha's granddam, Nidoeschka, was imported from Holland and was subsequently very successful in the Hunter ring with a young rider. Full sister to her dam, Walencia, is very successful in Hunters, placing in the top 3 each outing. Nidoeschka's sire, Belisar, was SPT Champion in 1986, and was one of Holland's top dressage producers achieving a dressage breeding index of 150 (reliability index of 93%). He produced top champion mares and 5 approved sons with his offspring often inheriting brilliant performance abilities.
