Dawn is lovely mare with 3 good, fluid, powerful gaits and a super hindquarter engine. Dawn is a remarkably pleasant and uncomplicated mare to handle, and very easy to train. Under saddle, Dawn was willing, with superb rideability and trainability, accepting of a rider without hesitation or fuss, and showed super willingness to work. She had 8 weeks of professional training already preparing for her first show; however, she suffered a severe, career-ending injury in the paddock to her knee joint. Extensive treatment and rehabilitation was undertaken and she was given a year off to heal; however, her knee bothered when started under saddle again. She was presented for studbook approval and earned good scores despite her knee. She entered our broodmare herd due to her known prior gaits, super character, rideability, pedigree, and conformation, and we have not been disappointed with the results! For her maiden pregnancy, Dawn delivered a beautiful, typey filly, Danika MSH, sired by Dannebrog (Don Schufro/Brentano II/Arogno), who exceeded our expectations. Her second foal, a colt sired by Fabregas (Florencio/De Niro/Lanthan), again did not disappoint. Her third foal has been her best so far, a colt sired by the grand prix show jumper and Spruce Meadows Masters Champion, Vaust S (Faust Z/Willow Cratic xx/Nimmerdor), and this has solidified her value and role as a broodmare.
SIRE: Royal Senna, competed to Intermediare-I under a young amateur, and completed his Stallion Performance Test in 2001 with a Dressage score of 117.18 (2nd), Jumping 102.27, and Overall of 112.81 and placing 3rd overall. He notably had very high test rider scores for rideability and temperament. His sire, Elite Rubinstein, had 40 international Grand Prix wins. He consistently passed on superior rideability, trainability, and especially notably a superb temperament in his progeny. Many years after his death, Rubinstein continues to be ranked in the top 20 WBFSH sire ranking through the success of his progeny. Royal Senna's damsire, Airport, was one of 19 stallion sons sired by the legendary Argentan. Airport was a significant producer of top quality mares with over 44 Staatsprämie daughters. Argentan was crowned Hanoverian Stallion of the Year 1994 due to his extreme success as a sire with over 805 progeny earning winnings of nearly DM 1.7 million, with his broodmares being especially highly regarded.
DAM: Come Spring was a pretty, but substantial 17.1 HH Thoroughbred mare with outstanding disposition and intelligence, with 3 big gaits powered by her exceptional hindquarter engine. Come Spring raced three times, earning a 2nd, 3rd, and then stood in the winner's circle before retiring as a broodmare. At Come Spring's warmblood inspection, she scored high marks placing 3rd overall where she was complimented by the judging committee who stated she was a TB mare of rare quality with her good type, her elastic forward gaits, powerful hindquarter engine, long legs, and good conformation, and was exactly the type sought for warmblood improvement breeding. Spring descended from a thoughtful British and French thoroughbred breeding using lineages which produced many highly successful steeplechasers and turf horses in the UK and France, as well as stallions who were very influential in warmblood show jumping and dressage breeding in Germany. Her pedigree specifically contains the highly regarded stallion Dark Ronald and his son, Son-In-Law who was a steeplechase maker. Additionally, her pedigree includes the sires of Furioso xx (sired by Precipitation xx), Cottage Son xx, and Ladykiller xx all of whom are influential lineages in today's modern show jump breeding. Her TB line also directly produced Paradox (via Persian Gulf xx, sibling to Precipitation xx), and Lauries Crusador xx (via Owen Tudor xx, his great, great grandsire) who stood at the Celle State Stud and was influential in dressage breeding. This strongly consolidated and line bred pedigree to Dark Ronald ultimately strongly influences Dawn and explains why she is multi-talented in both jumping and dressage.
