Touchdown has the classic superior temperament found in the Swedish Warmblood along with charisma, brilliant gaits, very good rideability, and exceptional athletic abilities for dressage. He has the necessary superior handleability, yet under saddle he is rideable, forward, sensitive, honest, and moves well off the leg. He is expressive and elastic in all his movements. The Swedish stallion evaluation committee stated, "Touchdown has a good exterior, and is a well proportioned stallion. Performance-wise, he can help with gaits, correctness, and elasticity."
Touchdown is a stallion of international class. His star shone very bright even at a very young age. As a foal, he was assessed a score of 51/60 (85%) and was Reserve Champion Foal at the Riksfol Foal Championships in Flyinge. As a 3-year-old, he was awarded his Diploma for his quality of gaits and received 10-10 under saddle (assessment for gaits, rideability, balance, and temperament). At his stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf, he scored a very impressive score of 141 (8.78), and was the highest ranked stallion amongst all 3-5 year olds in all of the 70-days tests throughout Germany for the year of 2015. He received seven 9's for interior, temperament, willingness to work, his walk, canter, and rideability. In addition, his jumping was judged as very good and he scored 8s in the cross-country jumping. At 4 years of age, he attended the Breeder's Cup where he was placed 4th. Charlotte Dujardin gave him scores of 8.5 and 9, especially commenting on his willingness to work, go forward off her leg, ability to lengthen his stride, and stated she would gladly have him accompany her home. In July 2017, Touchdown qualified for the Young Horse World Cup and was selected to represent Sweden, and on August 5, 2017, he placed 5th in the small final against a very strong field of international horses.
Touchdown is out of one of Sweden's very best damlines with championship horses in both dressage and jumping. His mother, La' Mour is an Elite and Double Diploma mare scoring 50/60 (83.3%) in dressage and 49/60 (81.7%) in jumping, something achieved by very few mares in Sweden. La' Mour has now produced 3 offspring who competed in the Young Horse World Cup, including Touchdown who just earned his qualification in July 2017. La' Mour's daughter, La Prii (by Don Primero), participated in the Young Horse World Cup in 2008 achieving 4th in the consolation class. She then placed in the Breeder's Trophy at the Scandinavian Open. La Prii went on to win Team Silver at the Nordic Baltic Championships for Young Riders, 5th in individual finals, and finally placements at the Prix St George in dressage before she unfortunately died too young. La' Mour also produced another approved stallion, Tobasco (by Topaasch 1090) who is now competing at the international level of dressage competition. Prior to his successful dressage career, Tobasco also won the Breeder's Trophy and competed in the Young Horse World Cup championships in twice in 2010 and 2011, and as a 6-year-old placed 5th in the Young Horse Championship final. La' Mour's other daughter, La Couronne, earned jump scores of 9 and 9 and achieved her Diploma as a 4-year-old.
Touchdown's granddam, La Sanne is also an Elite predicated mare in Sweden. Her daughter, La Mer competed at the European championships in showjumping for juniors, and son, Quite Lovely, won the National Foal Championship, has placements at the Grand Prix in international dressage competition, and participated in the Nordic Baltic championships for seniors.
Quaterback has proven to pair extremely well with Swedish mares resulting in young horses that are often very successful in young horse classes and advanced tests. Quaterback was top colt at Vechta auction, became 1c Premium at his stallion approval with a 10 for character, 9.5 for rideability, and 9s for temperament, walk, trot, and canter, was Bundeschampion as a 3-year-old, participated at the Bundeschampionat finals as a 5 and 6-year-old dressage horses, 5th at World Championships for 6-year-olds. In 2003, he won the VTV Dressage Stallion of the Year Award. He has 1st place wins in Grand Prix classes starting at 2004, and was won the World Cup B finals, culminating in a nomination for the Olympics at Athens.
Finally, rounding out the pedigree is none other than Bjorsell's Sack, a stallion very highly regarded in Sweden. He was a very successful international dressage competitor, and competed at the Olympic Games at Athens in 2004. Great grandsire, Judex xx, add in the necessary thoroughbred refining blood desired in warmblood breeding.
