Wailea is a lovely mare, a daughter of our own Nidoeschka. Wailea was started under saddle and showed promise in jumping; however, suffered a serious paddock accident. After diligent treatment, she was restarted under saddle but it became apparent she was not completely comfortable. Thus, she was presented to the Hanoverian Verband for broodmare inspection and was approved at the Hanoverian Mare and Foal Show held at Spruce Meadows in September 2013. She was shown alongside her first foal, a filly, who was subsequently awarded Best Dressage Foal by the Hanoverian Verband at the same show, and we retained this filly for our program.
Wailea's dam, Nidoeschka, was imported from Holland. She was ridden by a young teenager and a very successful hunter career showing at Anderson Ranch in Calgary, Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, BC, on Canada's West Coast, and on the US West Coast. After her retirement from competition, she became a broodmare and was bred to the popular stallion, Westporte several times producing both Wailea and her full siblings. More about Nidoeschka can be found by clicking here.
Wailea's sireline is top rated. Sire, Westporte, was sired by the esteemed Wolkentanz I. In Germany, he was champion of his 2-year-old licensing and then was imported to stand in Canada. His sire, Wolkentanz I, also was Champion of his licensing, Federal Champion 3-year-old riding horses, and Reserve Champion of the Stallion Performance Test. Weltmeyer is world-renowned and needs little introduction for his impact on sport horse breeding. He was Champion of his licensing, 3-year-old Federal Champion of riding horses, and Champion of his Stallion Performance Test earning a remarkable dressage score of 143.94, and then went on to produce a remarkable number of champion sons, including Wolkentanz I, Wolkentanz II (who stood in Canada), Wolkenstein I and II, and White Star who himself earned an all-time high score of 158.50 in dressage at his Stallion Performance Test. Additionally, Weltmeyer sired many State Premium mares and champion riding horses.
All the mares in Wailea's motherline have been top broodmares and have produced numerous successful sport horses in both jumping and dressage in Europe, in addition to approved stallions and predicated mares. Wailea's damsire, Elite Stallion Belisar, was overall winner of his Stallion Performance Test in Ermelo with an overall score of 9. He went on to become a top sire in Holland, was known for passing on intelligence, type, exceptional gaits, and rideability, and most of his offspring were very successful in competition. His influence as a damsire proved exceptional, and as a result even after his death he is still highly ranked in Holland. We see his influence continues even in his great-granddaughter, Rosaleigha MSH, who is part of our broodmare herd.
